God answered our prayers!!

Since we have been focusing on snow this month....learning the /ow/ says the long o sound,
learning that snowman and snowball are compound words, writing about our favourite winter activities, we have been praying that God would send us a little snow and He did!  We took full advantage Friday morning and went outside to experience the fun that we can have.  We hoped to make snowmen because that was our writing assignment...how to build a snowman, but the snow was not sticky enough to roll into a ball.
We tried our best...
and managed to find some great snow chunks, but couldn't roll the snow to make bigger snow balls.
We still stuck out our tongues to catch snowflakes,
and made snow angels.  Thank you God for a very good day!
I forgot to take a photo of the book called The Snowglobe Family by Jane O'Connor.
We loved reading about the family inside the snow globe as well as the regular size family.
The snow globe family wanted a snowstorm so that they could go sledding.
I asked the students to write two sentences about being inside a snow globe. The words above the lines is the title.  Some of the students still used it to be part of the first sentence.  It may seem like a little thing, but it does indicate that the student needs to listen to directions closely.
This example shows that the student can write a sentence with an uppercase to start and punctuation to end.  Well done kiddo!
This example shows that the student is still at the stage of copying words off of the board, but not yet recognizing that more words need to be added to make a sentence.

The students know that a sentence tells us WHO DID WHAT.
Both are required for the sentence to make sense.
