It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year....for kids!

 You are about to be tickled pink with the cuteness of the work that the students did for their book report and Pumpkin character assignment this month.  Thank you parents for the time that you spent with your child.  They were so proud of themselves.  The assignment related to these objections in our language arts curriculum:

• present ideas and information by combining illustrations and written texts 
• speak in a clear voice, with appropriate volume, at an understandable pace and with expression 
• show enjoyment and appreciation during listening and viewing activities
• categorize related ideas and information, using a variety of strategies, such as finding significant details and sequencing events in logical order        
• record key facts and ideas in own words; identify titles and authors of sources 

This is Mrs. Kenny, who is part of a Linking Generations pilot project that many Holy Spirit classrooms are participating in.  Mrs. Kenny is an active member of OLPH church and will be visiting us for about 2 hours every month.  She read us a story and then helped us with a pumpkin craft.

Mr. Kucy didn't come to school today.  Instead Noah invited us all to come and be on his ark.

 Look at the variety of costumes that the students wore today!  They do not look like the kind of costumes that I remember from trick or treating as a kid (just a few years ago!)

Here are the teams of students working on the various STEM challenges.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The brown kraft bags held all the materials for the students to try and complete the challenge.  Working together, sharing ideas, communicating and completing the task are all part of these activities.  The students are becoming much more confident in these areas because of activities like the ones that they tried today.
