Did you know...the times they are a'changing?

Elk Island Catholic Schools now has an app on the Apple (IOS) and Google Play stores. This exciting new tool will allow parents and students with instant access to critical resources and information on their handheld phone or device.
A few of the highlights include:

● View and subscribe to news and calendars in a number of EICS schools.

● Instant access to your child’s information through PowerSchool.

● Up to minute bus status information for all EICS buses.

● Easy ability to find school level resources.

EICS will be adding more features over the next few months with the goal of making this app a one-stop shop for key information and resources for EICS students and parents.
Check it out!

In late January, the report that you receive about your child's progress for the first half of the school year will come to you digitally in a new format, with new words.  Before then, I highly suggest that you click below to the link in which the specialists at the Central Learning Services building explain both the how and the why of these exciting new changes.

I encourage you to check out the information on the website.

These changes are new for us all, but with all things, the most constant in our lives, is change.  Think of it this way....when you went to school, you probably still sat at desks in rows!  We don't do that anymore and that's a good thing!

On Friday, all the Grade One, Two and Three teachers from our school district met and discussed numeracy in our classrooms.  We viewed the Alberta Education definitions of literacy and numeracy, which I am sharing with you:

Literacy is the ability, confidence and willingness to engage with language to acquire, construct and communicate meaning in all aspects of daily living.
Numeracy is the ability, confidence and willingness to engage with quantitative or spatial information to make informed decisions in all aspects of daily living.
