What educational activities are we involved in during this last month of Grade 3?
One of the 'cool' things we got to do was meet an Olympian! This is Neville who has been at two Winter Olympics as the brakeman for the four man bobsled team.
His motto is "I can, I do, I will" and he shared his message with the whole school. One little girl got to take home a sled that he signed, donated by Canadian Tire. Thanks to that business who cares about the community.
Each child also got an autograph card (!) and a ball, again donated by Canadian Tire!
The prizes were handed out for the speed
stacking competition. We had some winners in the relay and pairs portion!
We visited the Strathcona Wilderness Centre as part of our BP ENERGY grant earnings.
We looked at the part that energy plays in ensuring our environment stays clean.
We also explored the people sho first lived on the land and were lucky enough to look at a variety of special artifacts, helping us to understand the importance of the environment in all cultures.
It's one thing to hear about the furs used in clothing, but a whole 'nuther thing to feel them!
Here's some of the wildlife we encountered! SO CUTE!
We even got to create our own personal shield, out in the lovely picnic area.
Thank you parents for coming along and sharing our day! We couldn't do it without you!
